Excelsior beach. Closing ceremony for the 67th edition of the Venice Film Festival
The closing Gala for the Film Festival, held on September 11th, was organized on the Excelsior beach, in front of the same Hotel, in a large “pavillon”, built directly on the beach for the occasion, and in the Taverna, overlooking on the sandy shore.
The mild temperature of the evening, with a clear and starry sky, the sea calm and gleaming, made the evening memorable. Guests had at disposal a rich buffet and then music for dancing under The "pavilion" on the beach.
Among the crowd there were familiar faces of the screen and many young people. Those people who went to walk on the Excelsior beach could admire the incomparable scenario of one of the most famous hotel, light reflected from the great "pavilion", elegant figures who swarmed from the large terrace and the beach … It seemed to relive the night scene of the movie "Once Upon a Time in America" with Robert De Niro and Elisabeth Mac Governs all turned in our legendary hotel. The Excelsior, where took place in 1932 the 1st edition of the Venice Film Festival has always been part of the event. So, once again, the Excelsior was able to close the 2010 edition.

Excelsior Beach, 2011. The Outdoor Fendi Collection was present at Venice Lido with some of the most exclusive lines, which express the craftsmanship, the whole "Made in Italy", in a contemporary design. On the occasion of the 68th edition of the Venice Film Festival, Fendi Casa has furnished the Film Room, an elegant and impressive space in the garden of the Hotel Excelsior directly facing the beach, designed to welcome guests and media.

The Excelsior beach in occasion of the 68th edition of the Venice Film Festival, was the most sought location for events of this Festival 2011. A tensile structure, installed for the occasion directly on sand in front of the historic Hotel, has allowed the same beach to be the heart of social events, like the opening and closing party of the Film Festival, the show Venezia Fashion Night and the Unicef gala dinner.

In a fairytale setting, on the Excelsior Beach, in front of the homonymous hotel, the event “Venezia Fashion Night” took place, unique for format and location. It was the triumph of prêt-à-porter for an autumn/winter just around the corner with the collections of international fashion designers: Alberta Ferretti, Blumarine, Krizia, Laura Biagiotti, Moschino, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood.
