100 years after take-off from the Excelsior Beach in Italy for the first flight with paying passenger
Saturday, June 2, 2012 was inaugurated by the Association “Amici dell'Aeroporto G. Nicelli” at the Hotel Excelsior on Venice Lido, an exhibition of art and history to celebrate the centenary of the first flight in Italy with a paying passenger, just off the beach of the famous hotel on April 25th, 1912, thus paying homage to the genius of the aviation industry Gianni Caproni who knew how to make that record.

The Surf Club Venezia, in collaboration with the Management of SAB - Stabilimenti Attività Balneari, opens at the Lido of Venice by the Excelsior beach the first school of SUP (Stand Up Paddling) recognized by the Italian Federation of Surf. ISA (International Surfing Association) instructors are available for flat water courses (beginners) and wave (advanced).
